Omphalocele is a rare congenital malformation, and immediate surgical repair has been considered to be eseential for survival of the malformed newborn infant before infection has taken place and before the tissue have been damaged or the sac has ruptured. Two cases of omphalocele experienced at St. Vincent Hospital in June and Oct. 1972, are described. One was a severe case, an eventration of abdominal viscera associated with short cord and absence of lower extremities. The other who was 1.9kg female with good Apgar score at birth expired 3 days later without any surgical repair because of prematurity and already ruputred sac. Authors reviewed some of literatures.
